First, we do a brief intake, and you complete a health-history form (about five minutes to fill out). Some conditions are contraindicated for massage, or require you to be supine, or face-up, only (such as heart disease). On the intake form, It is important to list all medications and health concerns so I can adapt the session to your specific needs without doing any harm. It is also important to list on the form any allergies so I am aware if you need a different oil or lotion during the session. Finally, we will establish which areas you would like worked on, whether there are any conditions that need to be addressed, and, ultimately, whether massage is appropriate for you.
No, just undress to your comfort level. Most people remove all of their undergarments for a full-body massage. You will always be underneath a sheet and a blanket. During the massage, no areas are exposed that are not being worked on. I follow Maryland’s professional massage therapy draping standards. You will have privacy while getting undressed and onto the table and, at the end, to dress and otherwise get ready to leave.
Simply, let go. If you are uncomfortable at any time, for whatever reason (music volume, massage pressure, face cradle, etc.), let me know so I can make adjustments. In addition, you can close your eyes and relax further. Some people prefer to talk, which is fine. Each session is catered to you.
The average full-body massage treatment lasts approximately one hour. A half-hour appointment allows time for only a partial massage session, such as working on neck and shoulders, back, or legs and feet. Many people prefer a 60 to 90-minute session for optimal relaxation. Always allow some down time prior to and after the session.
Reiki is an energy-balancing treatment. As a channel, I work with Source to realign the central energy centers of the body that originate from the seven chakras.
Cupping can help with pain and inflammation. It promotes movement of lymph fluid (great for edema), encourages blood flow to stagnant areas, and facilitates my getting deep into muscle tissue.
